STUDENTS

STUDENT VISA

Many educational institutions in Canada offer great opportunities for international students who wish to study in Canada.
The study permit is a document that Canada issue that allows foreign nationals to study in accredited educational institutions in Canada.
To obtain a study permit, you must have received a letter of acceptance from an educational institution  and have sufficient money to pay for tuition, living expenses and transportation  to and from Canada, for yourself and for your family members. You will also need to convince the Canadian authorities that you intend to return home at the end of your studies.

Studying without a study permit:

Students can come to Canada and study without a study permit if:
Program of 6 months or less
Minor children in pre-school schools
Minor children accompanying a parent authorized to work or study in Canada
Family member or staff of a foreign representative
Member of a foreign armed force
Citizen of another country with a registered Indian (Aboriginal) in Canada

Working with a student's permit

You can work on campus with a valid study permit, provided you are enrolled in full-time post-secondary education. You can also work off-campus if you qualify.

Work permit for graduates

If you are a foreign student who has graduated from a participating Canadian post-secondary institution and has completed a university program of at least 8 months, you may be able to apply for and obtain an open work permit under the Program work permits for graduate students. This open work permit will allow you to accept a job offer and start working without having to get a labour market impact assessment. It can be issued for up to three years, depending on the length of your program of study

WORKERS

Work permit in Canada

A foreign national who intends to work in Canada is generally required to have a work permit or other authorization to do so legally. This authorization can take many forms and usually requires prior approval before you can enter Canada to work.
There are two types of work permits: open work permits and employer-specific work permits.
An open work permit allows you to work for any employer in Canada.
An employer-specific work permit allows you to work according to the conditions of your work permit
The application for a work permit must be submitted to the appropriate place for processing. This may include a visa office abroad, a point of entry (depending on the nationality and nature of the case) or centralized processing offices responsible for pre-screening applications at the point of entry (depending on the nationality and nature of the case).

LMIA

Employers of certain types of temporary workers must obtain a labour market impact assessment (LMIA) before the worker applies for a work permit.
The LMIA is generally given for a certain period of time and the work permit issued will correspond to that period.

It should be noted that jobs in the following categories require a work permit, but not an LMIA (under certain conditions):
1. Under international agreements - this includes citizens of the United States and Mexico under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), whether professionals, traders or investors;
2. People transferred to a company;
3. Entrepreneurs whose work will bring significant economic, social or cultural benefit to Canada.
4. Co-op students;
5. Religious workers.
Note: Your study permit is not a visa. This alone does not allow you to enter Canada. You may also need a temporary resident visa or an electronic travel authorization (eTA).

VISITOR VISA
  VISA EXTENSION

Canadian visitor visa

Do you want to visit Canada for temporary purposes, such as business, seeing friends or family, or tourism? Well, unless you are a citizen of a visa-exempt country, you will then need to apply for and obtain a temporary resident visa (Canadian visitor visa) from a Canadian visa office.
In your temporary resident visa application, you will need to provide documentation to convince Canadian immigration authorities
Please note that your application may be refused if you are inadmissible to Canada for medical, security or financial reasons.

Super Visa

This is a long-term, multi-entry visa for parents and grandparents of permanent residents or Canadian citizens. The Super Visa for Parents and Grandparents is a temporary residence permit that allows parents and grandparents to stay in Canada for up to two years per visit. It is valid for up to 10 years.
